When Jaunita Rodenhiser asked people to send Christmas cards to lift her daughter’s spirits while she underwent cancer treatments, she could never have imagined the response.
Her daughter Hailey received 50,000 cards from around the world.
The family finally finished opening each one in early March.
Jaunita Rodenhiser says her family wants to help give back.
“We decided we wanted to do some fundraising for the IWK Telethon. We’re going to do some fundraising around Bridgewater and the South Shore area to raise money for them this year. And then come up to the Telethon.”
Hailey will finish her treatment around her tenth birthday in July and her mother is hoping to help her celebrate.
“We’re going to try and combine her birthday and the end of her treatment. And getting her to be well, instead of get well. And try to lift her spirits for her birthday and ask people to give her some birthday cards.”
Jaunita Rodenhiser says her family is grateful for all the support they’ve received not only locally, but from around the world.
