Bridgewater Police Chief Investigated For Alleged Assault

The mayor of Bridgewater confirms the chief of police is currently being investigated by the Serious Incident Response Team.

SiRT started investigating John Collyer two weeks ago for allegedly assaulting a teenage girl and obstructing justice.

David Walker says he is hopeful it will be thorough and quickly resolved.

“It’s a difficult time for Chief Collyer and his family. It’s a difficult time for everyone involved.”

Collyer was placed on administrative leave on August 18 following a decision by the Bridgewater Board of Police Commissioners.

No criminal charges have been laid.
