Residents and businesses in Bridgewater will see a familiar number for their tax rates in 2019-20.
The town unanimously approved its budget Monday night.
For the eighth straight year, Bridgewater homeowners will see their tax rate set at $1.65 while the commercial tax rate will remain at $3.97 per $100 of assessment.
Mayor David Mitchell says he’s proud of their work.
“Respecting that we know their financial situations and that they can’t take on any more of a burden and so we’ll do our part to keep the tax rate the same.”
The town is spending $1-million on pavement renewal and street maintenance.
Mitchell says it should help some deteriorating roads.
“We have a lot of potholes to fill, a lot of cracks to fill as does every town,” says Mitchell.
“We’ll make the most of it and stretch it as far as we can while ensuring we do a quality job.”
The town’s contribution to the LCLC’s operating budget has decreased by approximately $20,000 compared to last year.
And, an additional $1-million will update and upgrade the community wastewater treatment system.
Bridgewater also added public transit as a core, permanent service and is expected to cost just over $241,000 to operate.
The town will spend approximately $20.3-million next year on operations and $4.3-million on capital projects.
