A Bridgewater baseball player is excelling on the field and off.
Jamie Whynot is a junior at Fisher College in Boston.
He was named a scholar-athlete by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
In a release, it says a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
Whynot played primarily at first base and as a designated hitter in his first season.
He finished the season with 14 hits in 18 games, seven of which were doubles, while finishing the season with a .350 batting average.
Whynot is currently enrolled in Criminal Justice, finishing his year with one of the highest GPA’s in the program.
