Canada Defeats U.S. in International Dory Races

The red, white and blue were no match against Canada in the dories this weekend.

The Canadians captured four of the five divisions in the 65th annual International Dory Races in Lunenburg.

Canada’s only loss came in the mixed category by roughly a second.

Canadian Dory Racing President, Kelly George, says they are hoping to join the Americans and get more youth involved.

“They have a young bunch of people that are coming into rowing which is really what we need. There is a lot of junior rowers and a lot of younger ladies who are competing in the women’s category in the States. We’re working efficiently to try to bring this back to the history. It sort of gets lost sometimes when you only have so many people coming out.”

Canada retained the dory cup.

Any youth interested in dory racing can contact the CDRA on Facebook and find out more details.
