The wait is over but the question is still unanswered.
The jury was unable to come to a decision in the case against Candice Roxanne Moore.
The Mount Pleasant woman is facing charges related to the death of her daughter in 2013.
Prosecutor Michelle MacDonald explains what happened.
“Essentially, the jury couldn’t come to a unanimous decision,” she says, “which they’re required to do in a criminal trial.”
There were some indications that the jury was having trouble coming to a decision.
Twice they sent a note to the judge asking what they should do if they couldn’t agree.
MacDonald says her office will now take some time to consider if they want to re-try the case.
Both sides will be back in court on April 28.
