Change Is Happening

It almost seems to happen overnight. Leaves are changing colour. Really. Overnight. I swear that yesterday driving along the 103 you hardly saw any colour. Now it’s becoming noticeable.

There’s still a lot of green out there, but that may not last long.

I still get a bit confused over what makes leaves change colour. Some say temperature causes it. Some say it can have more to do with how wet or dry it is. Whatever the reason, you know it will happen. It’s just a matter of when.

But for many people, Thanksgiving weekend is a time for taking a drive and checking out the leaves. A few people have told me that there are more leaves changing once you move inland a bit. I haven’t had the chance to check that out myself, but it’s not unusual for that to happen. And whenever there is a spot that might be a little damp, a place where the trees get their feet wet on a regular basis, those places seem to change quicker.

Hopefully by the weekend we have enough changed over to make a cruise around the area worthwhile.

And we don’t seem to be getting a whole lot of wind, so maybe they’ll even stick around for a while.
