Region of Queens council announced a change in management structure for Queens Place Emera Centre.
The advisory committee which works to assist council with operations, revenue generation and expenses for the facility will now be more hands-on in the day to day operations.
They’ll work with the Recreation Director and CEO to make decisions for the facility.
The committee will also serve staggered terms.
Mayor David Dagley says this is to keep fresh ideas coming in.
“Several that will expire in one year and then they will go for a two year term and others will stagger along. So we have continuity of those people on that committee not to lose the expertise and memory of what’s occurred.”
Dagley says the change will give them more resources.
“They’ll have a more in-depth research of information at their fingertips to make decisions than they had previously. We wanted to open the transparency of what they were advising upon.”
Dagley says the committee’s term expired at the end of March and council felt it was the right time to make the change.
