The arena in Chester is closed.
Engineers have been studying the Eleanor Pew Morris Memorial Arena.
Paul Burgoyne, from Church Memorial Park, says they have discovered a number of issues with the structural integrity of the roof.
He says last year’s harsh winter is to blame.
“We had excessive snowfall,” he says, “and it, basically, stressed the building to the point where we have to make repairs to the existing structure so we can bring it back to that pre-condition.”
Burgoyne says the repairs are expected to take about a month.
He says they’re working with the municipality to help find alternative rinks for groups to use in the meantime.
