A Chester man has been charged after lying about an attempted home invasion on Pig Loop Road.
Police say the complaint came in just after midnight on Sunday.
The initial investigation indicated a man tried to force his way into the home but was unsuccessful.
He was leaving the scene when the homeowner ran outside and shot a gun.
However, police say further investigation has revealed the complaint was unfounded.
A 28-year-old Chester man has been charged with public mischief and careless use of a firearm.
He is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on December 14.
