A company has been hired to design the new skatepark in Queens County.
Spectrum Skatepark of Vancouver, B.C. won the contract from the Region of Queens.
The company will receive $40,000 to determine what the park will look like next to Queens Place Emera Centre in Liverpool.
Mayor Christopher Clarke says the designer will be looking for input.
“The designer will be involving youth and the community in its design. There is going to be a lot of consultation involved as the design is developed and completed.”
The design process is expected to take about four months.
The company has designed 170 skateparks around the world.
The total project budget, including construction, is just over $529,000.
