Contractor Working To Correct Shortfall In Lunenburg’s Brook Street Waterworks

Lunenburgers should expect more construction to deal with water issues.

A large project on Brook Street last year laid new pipes to upgrade the infrastructure and prevent flooding in the area.

It turns out the project didn’t solve the problem for four homes.

Mayor Rachel Bailey says council approved a plan from the contractor to address those concerns.

“It was a massive undertaking and we were all very disappointed that it didn’t live up to expectations. But, the contractor has taken responsibility for what they feel they could’ve done better and they’re going back to fix it.”

Bailey says the town will provide excavation services to homeowners to help install backflow valves.

She expects the work should be complete some time this summer.
