Court Order Issued To Owner Of ‘Farley Mowat’

The mayor of Shelburne is hoping a court order will bring an end to the unwanted stay of the ‘Farley Mowat’ ship.

A federal court has given the vessels owner, Tracy Dodds, until February 26 to remove it from the Port of Shelburne.

Karen Mattatall says they will determine legal action at a later date.

“We’ll have to wait and see if this happens or not and then I expect it to be a discussion we would have if he chooses not to abide by the court order.”

Dodds would have to return to court in March if he doesn’t comply.

He could be fined or face jail time of up to 10 days if he’s found in contempt.

Mattatall remains optimistic the vessel will be removed after nearly two years in Shelburne Harbour.
