Culture Related Jobs Increase In Nova Scotia

Statistics Canada is reporting good news for the arts in Nova Scotia.

Culture based revenue went up 15 percent in 2014, contributing a total revenue of $1 billion.

Lunenburg West MLA Mark Furey says the province has set aside $2-million for creative industry to help keep the momentum going.

“We want to see that continue,” he says. “This is where we as government believe these types of investments are creating the foundation for private sector to lead.”

The increase means there are almost 14-thousand culture related jobs in Nova Scotia.

Altogether the province will be investing $14.5 million towards creative enterprises and events this year.
