Damage to Aspotogan Golf Club “Disappointing”: Director

A dirt bike is being blamed for damage to part of Aspotogan Ridge Golf Club in Hubbards.

Someone drove the bike on the club’s sixth green last week causing multiple sections to be torn up.

Director of Golf, Doug Nelson, says the affected area will be filled with seed and sod in hopes of growing the green back.

“I mean, it’s disappointing. It’s something that happens from time to time on golf courses. I kind of expected it a little bit sometime last year and we were fortunate enough to not have any of that type of damage. It’s certainly not a good start to the year.”

Nelson expects it will take all summer for the green to return to normal and pins will have to be strategically placed away from the affected area.

“It’s really just a time thing that’s the pain in the behind, but it is what it is.”

He adds they are not involving the RCMP on the matter.
