Damp Weather Helping To Quell Fire Danger

The rain showers and fog this week are helping to dampen parched woodlands along the South Shore. However, the province’s Supervisor of Wildfire Management Jim Rudderham says it will be shortlived once the hot, sunny conditions return by Friday. He tells us: “The low humidity and breezes and when the humidity begins to rise and the breezes become strong, the fire hazzard increases. The days that people love outside when its nice and hot and sunny and a light breeze and a low humidy are terrible for raising the fire index like we had last weekend.” Rudderham suggests everybody be mindful of the wildfire danger and avoid backyard brush burning, fire pits and turfing cigarette butts from vehicles.
