Bridgewater’s new police dog is ready to provide service to the community.
After months of training with his handler Constable Morgan Gibson, the german shepherd ‘Davis’ is available to sniff out crime.

The almost year-and-a-half pup was taught five profiles including obedience, control, and tracking.
Gibson says the canine will be a big asset.
“He’s available for a lost or missing person, he can help find them. Someone who has fled from the scene of a crime, he can track them. He can help clear buildings.”
Gibson says the police dog’s development has been overwhelming after intense training.
He says the dog will be used for more than taking down criminals.
“People like him, he’s a very social dog. The ability to stop and talk to people who are interested in him, it’s just another way to engage people in our town and county as a whole.”
The community helped raise $20,000 for the dog’s training, to refit a vehicle for canine and purchase a protective vest for Davis.
The dog serves police 24 hours a day.
August 31st 2016. “Davis” is officially an operational Police Service Dog! #thankyou Cst Phil Macdonald @HRPK9Unit for an amazing course!
