Desbrisay Museum Offers Talk On Historical Murders

Everyone has a few skeletons in their closets and Lunenburg County is no exception.

The Desbrisay Museum is hosting a talk on historical murders that happened in the area.

Peter Oickle, a local historian, is giving the talk.

It will feature five murders that happened from the late 19th century up to the mid 1960s.

The talk will start with a triple homicide that happened just outside of the town of Lunenburg in 1791.

“When you think of the two Emeneau brothers who murdered three members of the same family, it’s become part of the folklore of the community,” says Oickle.

Oickle chose murders that all had different outcomes and motivations.

“It seemed to be something that interests a lot of people, like the motivation behind taking someone’s life,” says Oickle.

In the case of the Emeneau brothers, justice was served after locals gathered evidence on the culprits whereabouts and even footwear.

The talk takes place February 25 at the Desbrisay Museum in Bridgewater.

He’ll also speak to attendees after the presentation in hopes of gathering more information for his historical research.
