Former Local Curler Happy After Earning Bronze At Scotties

A former Liverpool curler says she and her teammates are thankful for all the support they got during the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

Nova Scotia’s Team Arsenault recently received bronze after representing Nova Scotia at the national tournament in British Columbia.

Jennifer Crouse, who plays lead on the team and used to curl at the Liverpool Curling Club, says the team had a great experience, even with opposing teams.

“When we won the 3-4 game against Northern Ontario, the sweetest girls ever, their lead and their fifth actually came out on the ice, even though we’d just played and beat them and I got the biggest hug from the both of them.”

Wild-Card Kerri Einarson defeated Mary-Anne Arsenault’s team, 12-9, in the semifinals.

Although the team of course aimed to win, Crouse is happy with receiving bronze.

She says it was the best showing she and most of her teammates have had at the Scotties.

She also says thankful for all of the people back home and abroad who cheered them on throughout the competition.

“The support was amazing, we had emails, we had text messages, we had Tweets, we had Facebook posts.”

The season is a wrap for Crouse but she’ll be tuning in to the Olympics and the world women’s championships in March to cheer on Canada.
