DFO Executes Warrants In Shelburne County

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans executed search warrants today at four separate locations in Shelburne County.

Noel d’Entremont, Conservation and Protection Supervisor of the Barrington Passage detachment tells Acadia News it’s the result of an ongoing investigation of a fish buyer.

“Our initial investigation started back on September 11th, 2018 regarding the alleged illegal harvest, purchase, and sale of illegal fish.”

d’Entremont would not identify the buyer, say what type of fish was involved or what specifically the Conservation and Protection officers were looking for but wouldn’t give anymore details

“Not at this time. I guess I can just add that Fisheries and Oceans, we take the laws regarding the harvest and sale of our fish seriously.”

Several DFO vehicles, some hauling trailers, were seen in the Atwood’s Brook area this morning accompanied by RCMP.

d’Entremont says more information may be released later in the week.
