The captain of the South Shore Major Bantam Lumberjacks knows he will have extra attention to deal with during the playoffs.
Fourteen year-old Luke Woodworth of Bridgewater captured the regular season league scoring title, notching 71 points in 30 games.
Woodworth missed the first four games with a broken collarbone but still managed to score 33 goals and add 38 assists.
He says the accomplishment wouldn’t be possible without his teammates and coach but especially the other two players on his line.
“Will Cook is one of my wingers. He’s a pure sniper and he gets in the good areas. The other is Kiefer Huskins who is also a shooter. I just look to find them.”
Woodworth finishes second in team history for most points in a season behind Keith Getson, who had 81 in 2012-13.
Father and Head Coach, Shawn Woodworth, says Luke has had a terrific season.
“He’s fortunate enough to play with a lot of good players to help him along the way but he’s been very productive for us this year,” says Woodworth.
“It’s nice to put his name up there with Getson and when he’s productive, we’re productive as a team.”
The Major Bantam Lumberjacks will play Bedford in the playoffs, beginning Saturday evening at 5:30 at BMO Centre.
