The chair of the host committee for the 2019 World Junior Curling Championship says it was a great week in Liverpool.
Greg Thorbourne says the curling was exciting and the community embraced the event.
He believes they set attendance records for the eight-day event.
Thorbourne says it all starts with the help of roughly 160 volunteers.
“We couldn’t of asked for better volunteers than what we had,”said Thorbourne. “We had volunteers from up North, Alberta, Ontario and all parts of Nova Scotia; Valley, South Shore and Halifax. It was a great turnout.”
Thorbourne says they did face challenges including limited space in Liverpool hotels and some miscommunication around transportation.
However, he received high praise from the World Curling Federation, players and fans and he looks forward to hosting another curling event in the future.
