Duckworth Retires From Competitive Snowboarding

A snowboarder from Kingsburg is looking forward to seeing what else life has to offer.

Alex Duckworth has decided to retire from her competitive career in the women’s half-pipe.

The 28 year-old began snowboarding at age 10 and reached the Olympics twice – in 2010 as an alternate and in 2014 when she finished 17th in Sochi.

She says she has no regrets.

“I’m happy to walk away without any chronic injuries and it’s been such a good go up until now and I’m happy to try out what might be next.”

Duckworth has spent the last six months helping to produce a short documentary on the history of snowboarding in Nova Scotia.
