A home undergoing renovations in Martins Point has suffered extensive damage after a morning fire.
The contractor arrived at the home this morning before 7 a.m and noticed smoke.
Western Shore Deputy Chief, Jared Swinemar, says firefighters were able to contain the fire to the downstairs mechanical room and the upstairs kitchen.
No one was home at the time and the home is still standing.
Six departments were on scene including Martin’s River, Blockhouse, Chester, Chester Basin and Mahone Bay.
Crews were on scene for roughly five hours.
Swinemar says the fire marshal’s office is helping to investigate the cause of the fire.
