Education Minister Looks For New Dynamic With Teachers

The new Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development is all ears.

Zach Churchill says it’s time to start out on a new foot with teachers.

He says, at the end of the day, all sides recognize the need to improve the classroom experience.

Churchill hopes with the difficult contract behind them, government and teachers can find a way forward.

“Well, we’ve to execute on the changes that we’ve committed to the people of Nova Scotia and to teachers. And obviously, we have to do some repair work in terms of the relationship between government and our teaching population.”

Being new to the role, he hopes to cultivate a new relationship with teachers.

“They need to know that government cares about what their concerns are, and that we’re going to keep moving on them. I think at the end of the day, if we can all keep working together, we’re going to have a better system.”

He wants teachers to know he is fully committed to listening and working with them to improve the classroom experience across the province.
