Events Lunenburg County is hoping to bring Nova Scotia Music Week to the area. Andrew Tanner says the group is bidding for the event in 2016 or 2017 because they feel they would be rushing to host it in 2015. Events Lunenburg County will put forward a bid that will see the Clearwater Seafood Arena host the gala night, with musical events planned in several communities including Riverport, New Germany, Mahone Bay, Bridgewater, New Ross and Lunenburg. Tanner says it would be a big benefit to the local area after the event generated roughly $1.3-million in spin-offs for Yarmouth in 2011. The Region of Queens hosted Nova Scotia Music Week last year and are hoping to attract the event back while a group in Yarmouth is also bidding for the event between 2015 and 2017. The winning bidders will be named during Music Week in Truro this November.
