Expanded Program Helps Farmers Deal With Expired Livestock Medication

Farmers in Nova Scotia now have an opportunity to dispose of expired pesticides and livestock medication for free.

Clean Farm has been collecting pesticides for almost 20 years but are accepting expired animal medicine for the first time.

Director of Obsolete Collections, Russel Hurst, says it’s a great way to support farmers.

“I think it really is a service to the industry,” he says. “To in sure that if there are products in storage sheds across the province that they are safely disposed of.”

Hurst says it’s a national program that runs once every three years.

The South Shore collection site is at the Bridgewater Farmers Co-op on La Have.
