Nearly a dozen fishing companies throughout the South Shore and Tri-Counties will benefit from federal money to help upgrades facilities and create jobs.
Roughly 4.8 million dollars will go to 11 fishing companies throughout the South Shore and Tri-Counties.
Fisheries and Oceans Minister Bernadette Jordan says Atlantic Canada’s fish and seafood sector has faced significant challenges due to the pandemic.
She adds the money will help seafood processors weather the pandemic and prepare for recovery.
The announcement includes funding for companies in Blandford, Port Mouton, Argyle and Lockeport.

Construct a new building and install equipment to cook and process lobster. This project will result in two new jobs.
Deep Cove Aqua Farms Limited $500,000 repayable Blandford, NS
Install new technology to increase its live lobster storage capacity. This project will result in three new jobs.
Hailmar Fisheries Limited $500,000 repayable Lockeport, NS
Install an automated live lobster grading machine and increase its lobster storage capacity. This project will result in six new jobs.
Ocean Pride Fisheries Limited $500,000 repayable
Argyle, NS
Construct a cold storage facility for frozen product at its processing plant. The project will result in 10 new jobs.
Rocky Coast Seafoods Ltd. $500,000 repayable
Comeauville, NS
Increase cold storage capacity to improve overall efficiency. This project will result in three new jobs.
Sea Lock Investments Limited (Operating as Captain Little Seafood Ltd.) $500,000 repayable
Port Mouton, NS
Expand and upgrade its live lobster holding facility. The project will result in 10 new jobs.

Construct a cold storage facility and purchase refrigeration equipment. This project will result in four new jobs.

Undertake COVID-19 health and safety modifications to its processing and manufacturing lines.

Clare, NS
- $100,000 repayable contribution to improve its grading station and scales, renovate its packing and storage area and retrofit two of its holding tanks. This project will result in two new jobs.
- $39,000 non-repayable contribution to renovate its facility to ensure social distancing and install facial recognition software to replace manual timecards.
