A fire department training facility has been found in Queens County.
The Region of Queens Municipality along with the Liverpool Fire Department found a space near the Region Leaf and Yard Waste Facility in Western Head.
Mayor David Dagley says several other locations were reviewed but this was the best option available.
“We will clear any scrub, any brush. It will be clean gravel, it will be a good separation and a fairly large area that previously was cleared but has been reclaimed by bushes.”
Dagley expects the space to be cleared is roughly 300 feet by 300 feet.
The site is expected to be prepared with ditches, gravel and fill for training exercises this year.
The space will be open to all fire departments in Queens.
