LCLC Capital Budget Set At $39,000

A proposed $96,200 capital budget for the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre has been whittled down.

The Town of Bridgewater and Municipality of Lunenburg settled on a $39,000 figure; a cost that will be shared between the two at $19,500 each.

The upgrades for 2017-18 include a new front walkway, flag poles, a sign on the building and a second vacuum for the pool.

Other items include special event supplies and shelving and storage in the LCLC administration office.

Both municipal councils chose not to move ahead with a $47,000 digital sign at the LCLC’s entrance.

General Manager Kevin Benjamin says it’s a decision he has to live with.

“The Memorandum of Understanding that we operate under basically gives the individual partners, in this case the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg and the Town of Bridgewater, final say on our operating and our capital budgets.”

Benjamin says the LCLC board will keep trying to make improvements but the final decision rests with each council.

“We don’t always believe that everything is going to get approved and accepted. We listen to the feedback that we’re getting from the public and some of the things that they feel is missing that would enhance the property.”
