A pair of firefighters from Bridgewater are among the fittest in the Maritimes.
Ryan Buck and Steve Freeman finished first and third in the volunteer category of a firefit competition in Amherst.
Buck placed first with a time of one minute, 32 seconds while Freeman was third at one minute and 39 seconds.
Buck says he’s pleased with the results.
“We’ve been kinda taking this year a little slower training-wise to peak later in the year rather than earlier in the year. A minute and 32 seconds for the first race of the year, I’m pretty happy about that.”
Buck will compete again this weekend in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Both men will represent Bridgewater at the nationals and world championships later this year.
