Five Locals Make The Cut At MCT Amateur; Women’s Amateur, Senior Begin at River Hills

Five of 10 local golfers made the cut at the MCT Men’s Amateur Championship at Oakfield Country Club.

Aaron Nickerson and Ryan Dixon continue to lead the local contingent through two rounds at three over par.

The two golfers from River Hills Golf and Country Club in Clyde River are tied for fourth, five shots back of leader Myles Creighton.

Matthew Chandler of Chester sits in a tie for 14th, eight shots behind. Mark Metcalfe of White Point Golf Club is tied for 35th while Jody Swim of River Hills is tied for 45th.

Sixty-two golfers remain in the field heading into today’s third round.

Elsewhere, a busy time for River Hills Golf and Country Club.

The course begins hosting the Nova Scotia Women’s Amateur and Women’s Senior Championships today.

Chester’s Allison Chandler and Tammy Atwood of Centerville are competing against nine other women for the amateur title

Shirley d’Entremont of West Pubnico, Janet Demolitor of Jordan Falls, Lynn Doucette of Yarmouth, Enola Harris of Shelburne and Karla Wilms and Morag Wilson of Clyde River will tee it up in the senior’s championship in a field of 39 golfers.
