Foundations Across Nova Scotia Being Recognized For Their Efforts

Health Foundations across Nova Scotia are having their hard-work recognized with their own day.

Foundations Day recognizes all the work put forth by the 41 foundations across the province.

Arleen Stevens is Executive Director of The Health Services Foundation of the South Shore, and she says it’s important to recognize all the money raised stays within the community.

“It’s also good, and very surprising to know, that in the last five years all these 41 Foundations that I mentioned have raised a quarter of a billion dollars,” she says.

“Which have been invested back into local Health Care.”

She also says it’s about educating residents on the need for health foundations because so many people in local communities invest in local Health Care.

“We all use our hospitals – whether you want to or not you will use your local hospital. It’s good to know there are 41 Foundations within the province.

South Shore’s Foundation fundraises for South Shore Regional and Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital.

Stevens says they’ve fundraised for every corner of the hospital, from Addictions Services and the Emergency Room, to the Maternity Ward.
