It’s to help encourage sportfishing and introduce new fishers to the craft. Agriculture Minister Keith Colwell says new or seasoned anglers are encourage to dust of their rod and reel and enjoy the free fishing weekend. More than 70,000 people sport fish each year, making it one of the province’s most popular outdoor activities. It contributes roughly $58 million to the economy annually.
