Free Fishing This Long Weekend

Nova Scotians angling to get outside this long weekend now have more reason to do so.

The province announced there is no cost to go fishing from Saturday through Heritage Day on Monday.

Normally, sportfishing would require participants to purchase a license, but the Department of Natural Resources hopes to encourage more people to try the sport by eliminating the fee.

Each year sportfishing generates more than $56 million in revenue for communities across the province.
