Fundraising campaign tops $30,000 for injured fisher

A GoFundMe campaign for an injured fisher from Yarmouth has pulled in more than $30,000.

Twenty-four year-old Andrew Saulnier was seriously injured last Saturday after getting caught up in the engine area of a boat in Lower Argyle.

According to a GoFundMe page, Saulnier has been moved out of the intensive care unit at a Halifax hospital.

Saulnier has a young family and another baby on the way and the fundraising initiative to help with his recovery has topped $32,000.

The RCMP in Yarmouth county says the incident is not suspicious and the Department of Labour has opened a file on the matter.
