Goodbye Alarm Clock

I have no longer been using an alarm clock. It really wasn’t on purpose. It just happened.

I hadn’t really been thinking about it. I just came to the realization on day that I had stopped setting my alarm.

As near as I can figure, it started during the whole lock down thing back in March. There was no need to get up early, so I didn’t. But around the same time, my body decided it was just going to keep waking up at the same time. Now, it just happens. Doesn’t matter if it’s a weekend or weekday, if I’m on vacation or working, if I’ve been up late (which rarely happens these days) or went to bed early. I still seem to wake up at the same time.

I don’t really miss the alarm that much. Although now that I have finally figured out that I haven’t been doing it, I’ll probably start to oversleep and need to set it again. But it just seems like something so unnecessary. Why set an alarm when you can just decide when you want to get up?

I’m pretty sure if my schedule changed I would probably have to go back to using one. And it could be interesting to see what happens with the time change. But at the moment, this no alarm clock thing seems to be working.

Although, to be honest… I kind of miss the snooze button.
