Government Seeking Residents To Participate In Social Innovation Lab On Aging

The population in Nova Scotia is aging, and that comes with challenges.

That’s why the provincial government is looking for help from Nova Scotians.

The Department of Seniors launched NS GovLab to help test policy, programs and come up with solutions to the issue.

Jocelyn Yerxa with the Department of Seniors says the population and demographics are changing in the province.

She says that means the province needs to be able to adapt how it works, and the kinds of ways to look for solutions.

“This type of different approach to problem solving allows us to more deeply understand the problem, as well to come up with solutions that have the possiblity to work.”

Yerxa with the Department of Seniors says Nova Scotia has one of the fastest growing, aging populations in Canada.

She says with the change comes the need to adapt how and what they’re doing.

“Our lab allows us to bring together diverse people so that we can work on understanding what our aging population needs,” she says.

“And the assests that it offers to our province.”

Yerxa says they are looking for participants of all ages, particularly from the public, private, non-profit and academic sectors.

To participate, visit the NS GovLab website.
