The Royal Canadian Legion is pleased with some items contained in the 2018 federal budget.
Dominion president David Flannigan says the national organization, which has over 275,000 members, was discouraged that the budget did not contain any focused investment in national defence in terms of the military and their equipment.
“Sooner or later our Canadian Forces military is going to become redundant. It’s going to become ineffective and it’s going to become a danger to our soldiers”‘
Flannigan Does say the government’s implementation of a tax credit for service dogs is very positive.
“Anytime training service dogs and having service dogs can give tax relief to the veteran or the trainer, we think is just a wonderful idea.”
Flannigan says the Royal Canadian Legion is also pleased to see funding in the budget for family crisis teams in the Canadian Armed Forces.
