Grey hair predicting the winter forecast

The deer are certainly frisky lately. The past few mornings I have averaged five deer in the road on my way in and most afternoons I have seen two or more on my way home. As rifle season starts on Friday, I am hopeful that will lower the numbers a bit, especially since even a double fence didn’t keep them out of the garden again this year.

One thing I have been noticing is that the deer seem to be very grey looking this year. Seem to be in good shape and very grey coloured coats.
Well I found out what the older generations used to say about deer with grey coats in October.

“When deer are gray in coat in October, expect a severe winter.”

This is one of the this months indicators if you are trying to predict what this winter might look like.
