It’s time to fill the net for the food bank. The South Shore Minor Hockey Association and the LCLC have teamed up to try and increase donations during this critical time of year. It started Friday and goes until Sunday. Association President Mike Conklin says there is an increased demand right now. He says, “I guess the local food bank is looking at either cutting back on their hours or cutting back on the amount of food that they are able to distribute to families in need, so it’s a great opportunity for us to help contribute back to the community.” A collection area will be set up inside the LCLC. The food drive is happening the same weekend as the Association’s player development weekend. Conklin adds, it provides a good message to their kids. He says, “It’s a great learning experience for our players because minor hockey isn’t always about being a better hockey player, it’s about helping you grow as a child as well.” People are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items if they’re visiting the facility.
