As wells continue to dry out, another fire department is stepping up to help out their community.
Italy Cross Middlewood Fire Department is opening its doors for area residents.
Deputy Chief George Jensen says people are welcome to come to the fire hall to fill up on water or do some laundry.
“If anybody’s interested, they can give me a call and I will set up a call when they can come and do laundry, stuff like that.”
For Jensen, opening the fire hall doors to the public is a no-brainer.
“That’s what the fire department is for as far as I’m concerned. To help out the people in your district, they’re paying their taxes. At a time when people are in need why not do it?”
Jensen says people should call ahead to make arrangements as they are a volunteer department and the fire hall isn’t always staffed.
