It’s Not Exactly Maritime Union But…….

The premiers of the three Maritime provinces plan a closer alignment with one another which involves a common approach to government procurement, employment standards and when the minimum wage is raised.

Combining the purchasing power of the three provinces is seen as being less costly for the governments when they buy.

The three Maritime provinces now have different employment laws and labour standards but the premiers want to get eliminate those differences which will make doing business in the region less cumbersome.

The premiers also say they intend to move toward a shared date for future increases in the minimum wage.
