It’s time to honour and remember by wearing your poppy

Back from the weekend and already looking for a poppy replacement. I bought a black center with a back on it so I don’t lose my next one purchased.
I was surprised to see the Legion set up at the South Shore Centre on Saturday selling poppies. I always thought you only wore a poppy after Halloween, so I had to ask.
The Legion member explained that as of this year, there is now a set date for poppy wearing of Oct 24th. The official protocol used to be the last Friday of October, but as of this year there is now a fixed date.

When to wear your Poppy
The lapel Poppy should be worn during the Remembrance period, from October 24 until November 11.

The history of the poppy takes us back over 100 years.

Since 1921, the Poppy has stood as a national symbol of Remembrance. The Poppy is also the recognized symbol for the Legion’s Poppy Campaign, which raises funds to support Veterans and their dependents. Through the trademark, the Legion ensures that the Remembrance Poppy is not used to commercialize, politicize, or dishonour those who served or to misrepresent the Poppy Campaign and the donations it raises.
