South Shore police are reminding motorists to make sure their licence plates are clearly visible. More and more of those plastic licence plate covers are being sold as a means to protect the plates from rusting. They apparently work but many drivers don’t realize they also get clogged up with dirt and the licence plate itself can become obscurred. Police and no one else after a while can read them. That creates a problem for police who need to be able to read a plate quickly if looking for a suspected criminal. Being able to see your plate can prevent a lot of trouble for you and police can rule your vehicle out as a suspect car or truck. If your vehicle plate is obscurred and unreadable, you could be fined hundreds of dollars. Police forces everywhere ask you to make sure they can read your plate with no trouble.
