A group of kids got to skate with a member of the national women’s hockey team.
Jillian Saulnier is the first woman from Nova Scotia to play for team Canada.
She hit the ice with 34 grade four students from Bayview Community School.
“It’s fun to see the little dreamers who have aspirations,” she says. “Even if it’s just learning to skate. That’s another stage that I was at, at one point. So, it’s definitely fun to be a part of.”
The kids also got to meet Olympian bobsledder Luke Demetre who dressed up as Leo the Lion.
The opportunity was part of the learn to skate program put on in advance of the World Sledge Hockey Challenge.
