The man convicted of setting the King Street blaze in 2017 will spend five years in prison.
Adrian Thomas Hunt of Greenfield was sentenced Friday afternoon in Bridgewater Provincial Court.
The 25-year-old man pleaded guilty to arson and break and enter last fall, about a year after the devastating Bridgewater fire destroyed several businesses and apartments.
Hunt did not explain why he started the fire or if anyone put him up to it.
Bridgewater Mayor David Mitchell says that is the hardest part for those affected.
“My heart goes out to the people who were displaced because after all this, they still don’t know why this happened, why they lost their homes. It’s frustrating.”
Hunt will serve his time in a federal institute.
