The last remaining barn in Old Town Lunenburg is facing the wrecking ball.
Since the 1870s, the Anderson Barn has been a fixture on Pelham Street.
In recent years, it has been used as a storage garage.
Lunenburg Heritage Homes Limited bought the property in 2015 to convert the barn into a multi-unit residential building.
Two engineering firms hired to assess the barn say it wouldn’t meet modern standards for residential property.
The developer has determined it makes more sense to knock it down and build from the ground up rather than rebuild the decaying barn.
The public are invited to Lunenburg town council’s August 23rd meeting to listen to the demolition proposal and voice any concerns
