Mow It Forward On The South Shore

The United Way wants help to mow the lawn.

As part of their “Mow it Forward” campaign, they’re asking people to look out for neighbours who may need a hand to keep their yards tidy.

Michael Graves is the coordinator with the United Way.

He says a little help can really relieve stress.

“The idea is, if we can help them get what they need done to stay comfortably in their home – think of seniors- they see the grass unkept – it stresses them out. We don’t want them stressed out.”

Graves says there’s no need to look on the internet or all over town.

You only need to go as far as your own neighbourhood to find someone you can help.

“If you’re walking down the street out for your evening walk and you notice that you’re senior neighbour’s grass is a little bit high, knock on the door and say, Hi my name is…can I help cut your grass. Simple as that.”

Graves says when neighbours help out, it allows seniors to stay in their homes longer.
