South Shore Public Libraries is stepping up to help give students a place to go while teachers are on a work-to-rule schedule.
Even though classes will be back in session starting tomorrow the job action will mean many extra curricular programs have been cancelled leaving many students with extra time on their hands

CEO Troy Myers says the library has a special roll to play when the community is in need, and it isn’t only about books.
“Kids need safe places to go to without prejudice and public libraries will never take the place of public schools but it’s just a wonderful way to improve you’re child’s education.”
Myers says they’ve been working on the plan since the NSTU announced their decision to move forward with the work-to-rule.
“We like to provide a little extra programming, we like to provide materials, we’ve energized our staff to just be ready for the increased demand.”
Myers says he’s already seen more people coming in and spending time at the library.
He says they’re more than happy to help in whatever way they can.
